quick stop & a wallhanger...(long post)
So those of you here will sympathize with my need to occasionally stop off on the way home (don't tell my wife, please!) at a watering hole just off the highway. On this particular day, it was mostly overcast with a sun trying to break through clouds and usually not succeeding (until it did at the right moment - but more on that later...)
So the first thing I see is a Least Sandpiper (I think?)...
And then I see a mallard, no big deal, but not a bad view...
I looked up for a second, and there was a yellow warbler (at high ISO)...
Then the sun peeked out on a Spotted Sandpiper...
Ah...but as the sun dodged the clouds, what was that speck out over the far side of the water??? Mr. Osprey, of course...
So I tried to quietly and slowly move in for a closer look....
And then I tried to sneak even closer when he landed...
But alas, no wallhanger, as I spooked him and he flew away. Dejectedly, I walked back towards the other end of the lake towards my car and decided to have one last look at a corner of the lake I couldn't see from my previous vantage point....
And just then, the sun came out, the subject rose off the edge of the water, and I got lucky...so here is my wallhanger for the past couple of weeks...
Worth a few minutes every now and then, no?
Hope you enjoyed...regards...Keith
PS - spared you the cormorant, gull with a fish in its mouth, and a few others - it was an unusually productive 30+ minutes.....

A shoot like that on the way home must have really put you in a great mood for the rest of the evening. Great shots.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Comments of all kinds always appreciated.
Harry...that heron is already on the wall...:D
