The B&W is beautiful. Growing up with peonies my entire life, the colour one really strikes me as uninteresting. The B&W looks almost like fire, and I love it.
Growing up in Milwaukee, peony bushes were seen everywhere. Of course, I saw the ants too--much more so on the unopened flower buds. I guess they need ants to stimulate petal opening somehow.
Anyway, I'm not a real great fan of B&W, except where electron micrographs are concerned, so here's a dissenting vote in FAVOR of color
Thanks for all the comments! I didn't expect that many to tell you the truth. This is one of the few B&Ws that I actually like. It's hard to have a decent B&W of a color flower. No ants on this flower....I have a pic of a Birds of Paradise with plenty of ants on it! hahahaha
