On Monday, I had the opportunity to play golf at the Spring Valley
Golf Course in a tournament put on by the Santa Clara Firefighter's.
The tournament was founded last year to honor the memory of Captain
Mark McCormack (Santa Clara County Fire). Mark was killed fighting a
house fire last year.
Participants received some cool swag. One of the items was a club
cover.
This cover belongs to one of Mark's Fire Academy classmates. It was
nice to talk to him and to learn a bit more about who Mark was.
The day was a bit overcast. A nice day to play golf. All of the carts were
loaded and ready to go at the start. The tourney was played in a scramble
format.
Here we are ready to roll.
My company very graciously sponsored several teams. This motley
group belongs to the sales organization...
A couple of tee shots...
There were a lot of turkeys out on the course...
Each member of the foursome tees off. The best shot starts the next shot.
Here we are headed for the green..
Of the four or so teams from the office, these guys had the best score.
I never knew that two of them played college golf and one's kid is headed
to Stanford on a golf scholarship to do the same :thumb
The gal in the middle is Mark's wife and one of the event organizers.
We shot a respectable 84. The winners, 61. So we have some room
for improvement. Look out next year
This shot is for Andy. Cause we know it's all about the food :thumb
Lastly, to Mark and to all firefighters who've lost their lives fighting
fires. Thank you isn't enough for your sacrifice.
