Vague but nerdly suggestion for fast image resizing

Since Don implemented custom image sizes, I thought a little about effecient image resizing. Probably the SM people are already aware of the body of work on Image Pyramids. Maybe you guys already use them and that's why things are fast already. But I only learned about it this spring. Storing image pyramids instead of just the originals does enable very fast image resizing as well as all sorts of other nifty tricks.
