Here's one of my daughter who actually likes this photograph herself...an unusual event for a 15 year old.

Comments very welcome as I'm a beginner at portraits.

For me this is an excellent picture.
I think that a canvas might be interesting ... White one, thin.

Thanks Antonio and my daughter liking it is a real bonus. I plan on buying the HP B9180 when it is available here in the uk, but it seems to be taking an age :(. It will hopefully be my b&w solution for art papers.

Yeah this capture is beautiful. Canvas is a great idea. The noise really works with this image.

Neat portrait and nice that your daughter likes it! They (our children) are so hard on themselves! Good use of noise...seems to add to the mood of the shot. I like the crop, nice job. thumb.gif

    Thanks everyone..
    ...Antonio, DF79, saurora, George...

Yeh, nice presentation and crop, Antonio; I actually tried a much closer one like you, but kept getting distracted by the ear(top left) and opted to give a bit more space. Also I don't like the highlight on her forehead too near/on the edge of the frame. If I used that crop, I would have to work some more on that area - still worth a try, I agree.

I've given up on Epson printers. Three bought and 3 broken & irrepairable only a couple of months outside the warrenty. My HP photosmart 4 years and still good. Just my unlucky experience I guess.

    Other Info
    Shot with KonicaMinolta 5D and 50mm f1.7
Aperture Priority. 1/125th. f2.8. iso 400. AS on

    thanks again for the encouragement

Beg your pardon george, I meant to add this last post.
Raw imported into Lightroom, exported as tiff to Photoshop CS. Levels adjustment and shadow midpoint shifted to increase overall density; unsharp mask and then added 15% noise(monochrome). Saved back to Lightroom and given exposure adjustment to prevent highlight clipping. Cropped and saved to jpeg.

Nah... it's just me and Epsons ;-)
