Little something from our post-shootout trip.
01: Nobody knows what it means:
02: But it sure is impressive:
Gallery: Utah: Newspaper Rock
To create the primary image (I mean the one with the petroglyhps:-) I used the trick Marc showed us at the shootout: launched PS Photomerge tool on the bunch of images. To my surprise, it created a rather nicely aligned composition, so I only had to "fill the holes"...
Canon 30D + EF-S 17-85
Enjoy! :1drink

Isn't it a pain to get a shot of that rock?
We were there, couldn't really get a good shot. I was wishing that I had a
ladder with me.
You did a good job with this one.
P.S. Did you notice that a lot of the feet on this rock have 6 toes? Odd.
Basking in the shadows of yesterday's triumphs'.
That's one thing I would love to have the opportunity to photograph. Glad to hear you guys are alive and well! Was thinking of you all today while Ed and I were at the beach to watch the sunset. A fisherman caught a good sized fish too!
But those petroglyphs are beautifully lighted and photographed!

Thanks!
I can't honestly say it was a pain.. I'd say, for the whole post-shootout this was probably one of the easiest sites to shoot. No hiking, very short side-trip, just one subject...
We were there in the morning, it was in the shade, but it was plenty enough light to get evenly lit shots. However, I agree, the ladder would not hurt
No, I did not notice the six-toe feet :uhoh Thanks for the point!
The price you pay to get there is to ride in the huge RV with the mad russian behind the steering wheel . And if you thought the rolller-coasters were scary - try driving/riding the 36 ft long 12 ft tall box in the stong gusty side wind... I'm still wondering how we were not blown off the road.. I'm pretty sure you'll hear more stories about it from my co-RV-ers...
Thanks for your comments!
Cheers!
