My son this weekend at the beach. Yay or nay on the lens flare?

The lens flare doesn't bother me. I would have to see the photo with and without to be sure, but to me the shot is great with the flare. thumb.gif

I would say "nay" only because it is so distracting that I find myself studying it instead of the subject .... your son. When I scroll down and take the lens flare out of the shot (even the kite) I see the best part of the shot.

Love the shot, lose the flare.

Lose the flare ... looks like a moon or balloon ... distracting.

With my utter lack of technical terms I assume that the term "flare" refers to the spot near the kite? If that is the case I have to agree with the above that it distracts somewhat from the kite. Apart from that I really like the shot. The depth is really neat. It gives a great impression. I especially like the blue versus blue color contrast.

I agree with Saurora, just crop it off. The real beauty of the shot, to me, is the vivid blue and how well the kite string sticks out - I love that!

Ok, here we go with the flare cloned out. The members have spoken. I have to admit that it looks better.

Cool shot! I love the angle you approached it from. I agree that it looks better without the flare.
