Weird thing happened yesterday. The moring session of my shoot I was able to dump photos to my P-2000, in the afternoon I went to turn it on and nothing. Swapped batteries, nothing. So I plug it in at my car and no Charge light turns on but I am able to turn the unit on.

ANyone else have this happen to them? Almost like the battery compartment isn't there.

Dead battery? You said it worked all right when it was plugged in?

Did you check the voltage of the battery with a voltmeter?

I have been impressed with the battery life I get with my P-4000. I was surprised because the battery is so small, but it will transfer 10-15 Gb to the hard drive from the CF cards per charge.

It sounds as if you a problem with the battery. But since two batteries exhibited the same behavior then possibly its the batter contacts in the P2000. The A/C adapter didn't indicate it was charging the batteries maybe the P2000 simply does not think a battery is even installed.

I'm certainly not in love with my P2000 but I have not had any troubles with it either.

    I don't know this camera but ...

I would check where the battery connects to the camera. Perhaps the metal has become bent or the contacts corroded or ...

It is also possible that the power interface has died or that you happen to have two failed batteries (it does happen). If you have an external charger then try using it to charge the batteries.

hmmmm.....not seeing anything in the chamber that looks broken, must be inside the unit. Ugh. Any ideas on what Epson charges or where to send it to get fixed?
