Ben and found this bird about a year ago then on monday we went shooting in yhe same place and I said boy it would be good to see that orange bishop again :scratch no not that just a sparrow

    well this is the breeding male for sure --the bird comes to us from africa and has been in L.A. on a visa since 1984 --the orange bishop thumb.gif

    The orange bishop is gorgeous!!! I'm still wondering how you all get so close to these birds without spooking them into flying. I can't get anywhere near close... it seems if I go outside with my camera the birds all disappear!!!

    it seems if I go outside with my camera the birds all disappear --yep that is the birdy rule but a real answere is you go out time after time and learn the area #1 then learn about the birds and how they act feed ect ect #2 move slow and do not chase them best bet get the shot as they move around you --the more you go out the harder it gets rolleyes1.gif

    Really lovely shots, Jeff. Those little guys can sit on those pretty reeds of grass, unlike the raptors, so they make for some special shots of their own!

    the big birds get more play but the little ones are harder to get and it is my goal to get as many different birds in my collection as I can --thank you for the nice comment very much appreciated :D

    thanks Mike -the bishop you will not find it is a african bird that was one way or another put here in la and Phoenix area how ne_nau.gifheadscratch.gifne_nau.gif but the male in breeding dress is some bird and the way he move --like a bee is something Ben has a better shot than mine side view thumb.gif good detail but we will go loooking again
