Being a Canon guy, I'm always interested in latest and greatest that the competition has to offer and challenge with. If the price tag is what I suspect ($4999ish), then Canon better get off their duff and introduce a D2Xs killer somewhere between the IDsMII and IDMII.

Am I right in thinking the D2Xs will be the usual 1.5x crop? Do all Nikons have that factor? That is the only real factor I would miss out on with my 1DMII since wideange photography is critical in landscape photography.

"The D2XS improves upon its predecessor’s energy efficient design, and when combined with the newly developed high-energy EN-EL4a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the camera boasts an unprecedented 3,800** shots per charge."

There's a lot to like about this camera. Battery performance, the metering
system and wireless transmitter are just a few. The "authentication" feature
seems to be directed at law enforcement though :D

When they released the D2Hs the prices on the D2H came way down (causing many cries of woe from D2H owners). Maybe the same will happen with the available stock of the D2X.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

When do you guys reckon they'lll come out with a D300? The D200 would be a big upgrade to my D70, but I have to save up for a while anyway and I hate it when I buy something and then something similar but better comes out a month latter (Like when I bought a powerbook with 1.33ghz and OSX Panther, then a month later they released the 1.5ghz version with OSX Tiger for THE SAME BLOODY PRICE).
Shoot, or shoot not. There is no try.
