Do you sit and wait for the birds to come to you, or do you stalk them Seriously, I'm having a devil of a time capturing birds. I never realized before how sensitive they are.. they see me with a camera and they are gone!!!

Luck plays a huge part in getting any good shot. Some times I stalk them, and some times they seem to stalk me.
j/k its one of the most beautiful pictures ive seen of a blue bird. If you used the canon 100-400 L its even more amazing! id have thought you bought a canon 500 mm - a really fantastic image!!

It was indeed with the 100-400. Here's the relevant EXIF data.
Keith, thanks a lot for the compliment. I'll have to experiment with printing this image. The problem is that it's a pretty severe crop, so there's not that much information to work with. Maybe I'll try a 5x7 which won't have to be blown up so much. Good idea though.
