Flash for D50??

I've been looking into getting an external flash for my Nikon D50, but I've heard that the SB 600 and 800 aren't compatable with it.
I've just spent the last two hours searching the Nikon website, but can't find anything that says this.
Am I looking in the wrong place or is my friend wrong?

Edit: Nevermind...naturally after I post, I stumble upon the answer...

Well, I have a Nikon D50, and on it sits an SB600, and it works great.
So he/she must have been told wrong by someone else.
The SB800 will work for our D50s, too.

Either flash will work with the D50.
I own both of these flashes. The SB600 is less expensive and slightly weaker than the SB800. The SB800 does offer some options as a wireless commander for multiple flashes in the future if you are interested in Nikon's Creative Lighting System.

A cople of functions don't work with the D50, but still the best flash for the camera.

Maybe they thought that you were using a Canon camera rolleyes1.gif I have the D200 but either the SB-600 or SB-800 will work on your camera, I happen to have the SB-800 and use the D200 flash to control the SB-800 while it's off camera.
