I like the one without flash better. The
shaddows look much more natural and
you have more depth in the textures
of the skin and the clothing. Also the
shirt of the right one looks a bit burnt?!

Oh, did I mention #1 is a great shot? ;)

I'm sure you believe me when I tell that the girls are nicier in the 1.st but I like the 2.ed shot better because of flash ... :):
I'm using it often and try to learn reading and pratizing...
    I have 2 different I'll send in a few moments ...

In both cases your fill in flash improved the photos without an obivious "flash" look. Good job. I feel that my flash techniques are horrible ... so I don't use flash much ... as I don't use flash much I never improve. It's a jungle out there Antonio.

I too am crap with a flash-

I've been trying out the lightsphere and it seems to be helping me quite a bit with outdoor fillin flash and inside pics-

maybe not the best portrait but this was indoors at night with regular room light and a lightsphere-

    I must desagree with you.
The 2.ed shot was without flash. It is obvious the 1.st is better.
Not that better. I'll improve. You'll see. :D

Have you seen this fantastic pic of mines ? :):

Don't look at the other aspects. Look only of what the flash did.

I had already seen you pictures.
I'm buying no Lightshere or whatever. As a matter of fact it is not available in Portugal ...
I must practice. And so you let me tell you...:):
I only use a Soften "condom" and bounce the flash not using E-TTL of course.

I love window/directional lighting and this is another point where natural lighting is much much better than artificial lighting.

    well, antonio, no expert I-

but definitely much much better than I could do-

I do kid around quite a bit but I am not teasing here-

my jokes don't translate very well, at least nationally and culturally (they don't translate here very well at times, either)-

keep practicing and please keep posting; always enjoy looking at your photos-

As a portrait this is very good. But I miss the shadows and the surrounding environment of the original. A skilled photographer that can control shadows impresses the heck of of me. Like an artist painting with light ... but you nearly eliminated the shadows of the original.

Is it really so ? ne_nau.gif

    what's a lightsphere?
Hi, I struggle with my flash too. 10-D/430 EX. It seems to have a mind of its own. I'm doing lots of experimenting, trying P, AV, TV, over exposed, normal, extra flash, etc. Mostly my flash shots seem a bit underexposed. Especially with ambient light. Sometimes the exposure is perfect, other times way off, and I can't figure out how to be in charge. How much does difference does a diffuser make?

Random thought for you Antonio, but I thought I'd see what you think...

Ever thought of bracketing two shots, one with and one without flash and then using HDR merging to see how the results end up?
