Took a few shots at the Malibu beaches around sunset time on Saturday.

    Wow
That first pic is outstanding!!! thumb.gif

Suggestion - crop out the right 1/10th.

    Davids :-)
    Thanks!
I was kinda hesitant to lose the right hand dark framing part, but here is the crop, and I think you guys are right about it thumb.gif :

Yes, that's got it now. The dark wedge at the bottom right now compliments the light wedge at the upper left. It has achieved balance.

Nik, this is a great photo. Now go out and sell the crap out of it. This has loads of potential.

Question, did you desaturate and tone this? And how did you do it if you don't mind me asking?...

Yes, I see this balance of dark and ligth corners now! Great that you guys noticed it! Thanks alotthumb.gif

If only each of us was able to sell every photo that has a potential...:cry Thanks, though! iloveyou.gif

As to desaturation - no, in fact, saturation is at zero.
Here's my ACR settings for this image (I didn't even open it in PS:-):

    Exposure 0
    Shadow 33
    Brightness 61
    Contrast +87
    Saturation 0

I boosted Shadow and Contrast a lot (and some Brightness, too) to lose the details on the bodies. But the rest of the picture was already almost this duotonish from the start. In Malibu we almost always have this very strong haze, which, at sunset, colorizes all things that are further than 100 feet away from you to this near perfect sepia.. Can be good or bad, depending on what you're after.. ne_nau.gif

    Excellent photo Nikolai clap.gif

I think Antonio's crop really tightens it up perfectly.
I'm worried about Gort. I'm afraid of what he might do, if anything should happen to me.:dood

nice shots. i like the crop very much.

the second shot has such nice subtle hues, maybe a touch more blue in the water and it would be perfect. very nice as it is as well.

I missed the sunset itself (that place is a nightmare to find a parking spot, spend like 15 minutes looking for one), so I only got the afterlight..

    Thanks for checking!1drink.gif

Malibu is a town that is squeezed in a canyon, with hills and the beach on the west, and more hills/mountains on the east. Wildfires occasionally burn there, and can make for some very unpleasant times for the residents and visitors.:uhoh

So, it's much nicer NOT to see the fires there!
