Need help finding a tall monopod

I've spent the last two hours going through every monopod on B&H's website only to find the one they have that is tall enough is $130:rolleyes

I'm 6'3" and looking for a tall enough monopod that I don't have to bend when using it.

Any recommendations?


P.S. I have a mint Gitzo 1564 monopod for sale if anyone is interested. $110 shipped in the US

Can you give us an idea how much taller you'd like to get?

Off the cuff, I'd say add a head to the one you've got. That
would add a few inches though perhaps not enough.

I'd like for it to be at least 6 feet tall when fully extended so when my camera is mounted, it will allow me to shoot with it and not have to bend down.

I recently shot a play my neice was in and ended up leaning against the wall with my knees bent to use my Manfrotto 676. My neck and back were bothering me after 30 minutes of bending and leaning.

Getting old sucks...:cry

I'm currently in the market for a monopod as well. I was shopping B&H last night and found that the Gitzo G-1578L has a max height of 77.6 inches. That's probably the one I'm going to go for. That's plenty of height - actually inches to spare. Don't know what your budget is though - it's carbon fiber and is listed for $274.

I noticed that one too. I was trying to stay under $100, but I don't know if that's going to happen or not...

The Bogen 3245 is 65". If you added the 3232 head, that would bring it
up to 67". Add the height of the camera, would that be enough?

I have the Gitzo G1564L Mk2 which is a 5 section (4 locks) Monopod
that extends to a bit more than 2m (~79 inches). In fact its so huge,
I dont have to extend the lowermost section when I shoot with it.
I'm 5'8" tall. I bought it when I didnt know that there existed different
Versions of the G1564, and was quite surprised. It works well so I
had no reason to trade it for a shorter version, since there is little
to no difference in weight and closed length to the other versions.
It has the usual removable rubber foot that taken off exposes a
unscrewable spike - if that matters to you.

I can highly recommended this one.

I have the 1564L and it works well for me and was a lot less than CF.

I'm just under 6'6" and use Bogen 682B with the legs removed. Its a tad to low without a clamp.

I ask because I recently pulled the trigger on one on the aUction site for about 110 + shpg. Didn't think too much about it -- just wanted twistlocks! I sick of clicking around with my Manfrotto. Opening it is loud enough that everyone turns and stares, and it just doesn't seem very ergonomic. Once you get spoiled....
