How do I store 35 mm slides?

Good afternoon everyone,
This past January 2006 I started a love project for our father. I purchased an HP scanjet 4850 and scanned 350 Korean War slides for Dad. I had these pictures developed and put in 3 separate Army albums. The wonderful part is that our father has no idea that we have done this project and so my sister and I will fly to Texas to present this gift to him on Father's Day. This has been a project and a healing one for me and we can't wait to present this gift to him...okay, now how do we store these 35mm color slides for the future (these slides were taken in 1952)?
For all you Fathers out there....."Happy Father's Day"

Kindest Regards,

KAM

P.S. Any brand names suggestions for an external hard drive?

Thank you all very much!!:clap

This is a religious question to which you will get many and varied religious answers. Is like asking which is better, Nikon or Canon. Ok, that's an easy one...

To start the discussion, I have a personal history (bad) with Maxtor and a number of success stories with Western Digital. But other people have exactly the opposite and still others will/do swear by Seagate (for example).

For the hard drive, get an internal and an external enclosure to stick it in. And get a Seagate drive. They have the longest (5 year) warranty for a reason.

    a slide box
a slide box which keeps them separated ,with a lid on it and in a cool ,dark, dry ,safe place

you could also go a step further and get some paper or plastic sleeves for them.

I believe BH photo sells archival quality plastic slide sleeves (it's like a sleeve that goes in a 3 ring binder that holds a bunch of slides).
