Here kitty, kitty....
So we took the kids to the zoo yesterday. Those of you that hate zoo photography might want to press the next-thread button now. :wink
It was an overcast gray day and the lighting was awful. I shot at ISO800 and 1600 mostly wide-open with the Canon 100-400 IS L. Some speeds were very slow. All hand-held. Image Stabilization saved the day. This next one was shot at 1/50th of a second.
Exposure Time:1/50 sec FNumber:f 5.6 Flash:No Flash Focal length:120 mm ISO:800 Model:Canon EOS 20D
I'm pinching myself at how well the IS works. I've got some more pictures from the outing here: http://www.jacara.com/cpg144/thumbnails.php?album=11
If you visit the gallery, you can see the EXIF data by pressing the "I" button near the upper-left corner of the screen. The EXIF will appear below the pictures after that.
Thanks for looking.

Susan, thanks for the really nice feedback. This is the NY Bronx Zoo. It's an ok zoo. I recall other zoos, San Diego for one, as being better. There was either glass or wire mesh between me and the animals in most cases. It's amazing how that stuff disappears though.

Thanks, Richard. This lens is a blast. It's probably not as sharp as the 400 F5.6 prime in a controlled environment. However, the flexibility of the 100-400 range combined with excellent IS make this lens a real keeper for me. It can definitely do things that the 400 prime can't. Telephotos are addicting. I really would like to have both of them.
Best regards,
