My youngest daughter Allison with one of her dolls. I thought they bore a little resemblance.

Does the lighting ruin it? How could it be better?

Nice photo, I think a little brightness and contrast would help the photo. Also try black and white version.

The shot is underexposed - quite a bit. So, a simple curves adjustment for whitepoint - raises the exposure. Sure, there are other ways...
