Red on Black, Okay Jack...

This snake was in my pool skimmer this morning. I jumped back pretty fast and had to recite the rhyme.. Red on Black, okay Jack... Red on yellow, kill a fellow...

So this guy was harmless and I ran in to grab my camera. I got him out of the skimmer and wanted to take a few more shots, but he was uncooperative and hurried out of Dodge :D

BTW, is this a Scarlet King Snake? I have no idea what it is.. other than it is NOT a Coral snake (which we do have around here as well)

Pretty snake with well captured colors. You're lucky I only get ugly black snakes and a few frogs in my pool.

Oooooohhh! Wildlife right in your own backyard!!! Guess that rhyming helps to remember important things, such as whether or not a snake is poisonous! Great capture and story. And, sorry, I don't know what kind of snake he is either. ne_nau.gif

I looked him up and am pretty sure he's a Scarlet King Snake although the Milksnake looks similar but it had a dark head. I wish I could have gotten more pics of this fella after I fished him out of the pool.

Very beautiful. You're sure it's harmless?
