Back Deck this morning and what a surprise!

Parent to left of me and the newest family addition to my right in the last two pictures.

It was fun to watch the awkward takeoffs and landings of the young one.

    How far away were they? (Just trying to sus out what telephoto I want with my 20d) They look nice and crisp .....

    Oh the youngster was a hoot to watch. He had a hard time keeping his balance on the tree limbs. Thanks for the nice comments everyone.

    Head in the Clouds

    I love my Canon 70-200mm F4L...great glass. It only gives you 320mm on the long end with the 20D which is enough for me. But if you're into birding shots the reach is a little short. And these pics were cropped to show only the hawk. The parent hawk was about 30ft away and the young one 40-50feet away. No tripod here...all hand held with a little support from the deck railing.

    Thanks you Skippy. I'll never see an eagle where I live. The hawks get
    close once in a while though.
