Generalizations are ridiculous, but then again so is Tivo thinking they can patent thumbs up and down...

Kudos on the smooth segue back on topic! :D

    Everyone just needs to chill.

Me? Need to chill? ME? DON'T TELL ME TO CHILL, I AM PERFECTLY CHILL:fish :boid :soapbox :smack :argue :beatwax FLIPA.gif :grim

PS - we really need more angry smileys...to direct towards Tivo.
Maybe my view is just skewed because it's been either law firms or government for me, and law firms have higher than average productivity (well...sorta...less efficient but more productive if you follow what I'm saying) because everybody is on a time crunch all of the time.

This is just another example of a goverment employee who shouldn't be there. Just like my office manager in the private sector.

    Everyone just needs to chill.

Thats my point - I really don't see much difference in the "people" part of government and the private sector.

Another clarification - I work in "local" government so yes we and our local politicians are very responsive to the public and very service oriented.

Oh yeah - Tivo bites (needed to stay on topic)

It's only been 5 months! My wife's greencard has been in Texas for almost 8 months now for the same reason - to get a typo in her name corrected. And we are hoping to travel abroad in December. (and 45 days away from a change of address to really complicate the situation:uhoh)

I think the INS may be one of the worse gov't agencies. In Atlanta they are extremely rude, slightly less rude when I've accompanied her visits there.

    Oh yes, about TiVo!:nono:boidFLIPA.gifflush

I have to agree on this one. Having dealt with a number of different
government agencies over the years, I find them similar in compared to
a cross section to the rest of corporate America. Some good and some
    just as bad or worse.

Anybody worked with Dell Customer support recently?

No. I talked to someone I didn't understand in the slightest and who's
grasp of my problem was nill.

On the other hand, I do a lot with Network Appliance (big in the storage
biz) and have talked to folks all over the world and always had excellent
    support.

I will often ask where the support person is when I do call but be assured
that I don't really care whether they are on the moon so long as the service
level is at what I believe I pay for.
