I don't think lamina means it has to be natural... since one of the examples in the thread says "like shingles on a roof".... so yeah... I think it fits...
I think though, that you might want to search around for something more creative..
For me personally, there's nothing that really "grabs" me about the pix.. Not that I have found anything better...

I also tend to like entries that are "photographs" that meet the criteria, and not just "pictures" that do the same.
I think the idea of layers of rocks or shale is a good idea. This shot however just appears too 'new" and staged, but what do I know, I'm brand new to this!!!

but the photo itself doesnt "grab' me.....color wise and content wise....maybe it just needs a crop
