Involuntary Parisian holiday

While I was stuck in Paris for two days due to the evil machinations of the INS and dept. of Homeland Suck-curity, I decided to put the time to good use and take some photos while waiting for the embassy to issue my wife some walking papers. My first time there, other than changing trains or planes, its a really nice place.
1st thing I did was head out to a boneyard, as I love that sort of thing- Montmartre in this case. They have some wonderful statuary.
It's not milan's monumentale, but until I get an excuse to visit italy, it will have to do. Lot's of famus folks have markers there, like Zola.
Also, Dumas fils is buried there, but his grave is surprisingly lame. The next one over has some cool sphinxes (sphinxi?)
Liek something out of Metropolis.
Of course my wife can only take so much of cemeteries, so we headed off to a bit more traditional parisian things.
I believeit is no longer possible to do an original shot of the eiffel tower, which must have more canonical views than Mt. Fuji by now, but here is my attempt:
And of course, the Arc de Triomphe, which everybody but the French seem to march under.
I must say, the architecture in this city is beautiful in a grand sort of way. Although ultimately I prefer the attractions of a more intimate city such as Prague, there are some nice baroque/gothic details here and there.
And finally, the obligatory metro photos.
