Reddish Egret ~ Dark & White Morphs

Spent some time at Fort DeSoto a while back for the first time and didn't really know what to expect. Lots of shore birds but also a couple of Reddish Egrets.

It was fabulous late afternoon lighting at my back which lit up the birds perfectly. Spent about 4 hrs there before sunset.

The biggest treat for me was the Reddish Egret. There were a couple there but what was even more special for me was I spotted a White Morph Reddish Egret. I was so excited I was afraid I'd screw up the shots. Not so as I realized when I viewed them on the screen. So here's a few of both. (Hope it's ok to post twice in a day!:rolleyes )

All taken with the 30D and Sigma 100-300/f4

This guy came flying by and scared the White Morph away

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

That evening sun created a very different color on the Morph.

Thanks Harry! For as much fun as the Snowy is to watch and shoot, these Reddish Egrets are quite comical when hunting!
