The orange lichen on the granite works as lamina, but not sure about the composition.

I love the combination of colors!
I think the green plant is not quite in focus. For me the comp would work better if it were all in sharp focus.
It could be my monitor tho.

    2 cents from a newbie

This is my official de-lurking. :)

I like what you're doing here - love the orange!

I think it would be neat to go back and get closer, try a few angles on the rock, maybe play with your macro setting/lens. If the natural light isn't helping you get what you really want, you might take a reflector (and a friend) to throw light where you need it.

    Happy shooting!

Welcome Amy! I agree with what you are saying about getting closer. Is this a crop? I'm just curious how close you really are. The shot to me does not seem very sharp and it may just be the subject-matter, I can't really tell. But I keep wanting to get "closer" to examine what the lichen really looks like. I think it's a cool idea, and I love the color, I would just attempt a closer shot, if you have time. :D
