Hi fellow shooters!
I am new to Digital Photography and owner of a new Rebel XT. Just bought some studio lighting kit off one of my buddies. It's some Photogenic lights, Octodome NXT softbox and a few sync cables. I couldnt find anything on the net, but does anyone know how to connect the Rebel XT to one or more slave flashes (umbrellas)? The Rebel XT doesnt have a connector, like the 20D or 30D. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.:1drink

Try this...http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=breadCrumb&A=search&Q=&ci=3625 (should get you close) If not go to B&H Photo Video look under the Rebel XT accessories.

This is what it looks like...245292.jpg

    Good luck.

15524779-Ti.gif What you want is the Wein Safe-Sync.

This is extremely important in that it provides electrical isolation from the potentially damaging trigger voltage of studio strobes.

Other methods include using the studio strobes as optical slaves, they may have slave capability built in, or adding radio slaves to them, which is handy for using them in an environment where other people's flashes might trigger yours. Radio is also valuable outdoors, where the optical slaves might not "see" enough of the trigger flash to fire.

If you want to use a TTL on camera speedilte and studio lights this won't work. But don't fret a company called Paramount cords in NY with modify your off camera cord 2 with a PC sync in the side of the module that goes on the camera hot shoe. Thereby maintaing on E-TTL usability and dumb flash connectivity (useful for firing radioslaves). If you have no need of on camera and studio flash at the same time by all means get a wein safe sync.

In this case, you may still want a Safe-Sync, just a different model (PC/PC):

The newer Photogenics are no problem, but this is an older system bought from a friend. Who knows?
