Change password retention time?

Is it possible to edit the amount of time a password (gallery-level) gets saved on an end-user's machine? I think the current default is 24 hours, and I'd like to have the password stored for longer periods of time in some cases.

That's a cookie thing, dunno really if it's user-changeable.
