Glad you like it! The streaks of sun in the clouds looked like lightning through the camera! Very eerie.

Pretty cool... I like it that you can see people walking along the beach. Great colors.

The day after. Completely different mood.

I'd never seen a rainbow quite like that. It just stopped in the cloud.

Great pictures.... glad this storm wasn't too bad.... and I hope it's the worse we have this year... (ok I'm dreaming)... we're still dealing with the results of Katrina here and at Mom's... so I'm just not ready to face another season... (hmmmm do you think I have a choice??) Laughing.gif:)

I do like both your pictures Shaun.. that first one is stunning... and of course there are people walking the beach... watching the water before a hurricane is like seeing a car accident on the road... always look-ee-loos

Thanks, deeya. I was in Betsy as a kid in NO. Erin, Opal and many other hurricanes and even typhoons as an adult. They're an awesome force of nature that can be beautiful but also deadly. It's easy to become complacent. The poor folks in New Orleans hadn't had a major hurricane in forty years until Katrina.

I tend to be a bit biased.... because NO has gotten so much attention about Katrina... no doubt they had problems and damage.. but it was because of the levys rather than Katrina itself... if the levy's hadn't broken, New Orleans would have had very little damage... Mississippi on the other hand, was devastated by the storm... the entire coastline from Bay St. Louis to Pascagoula was wiped out... water went so far inland that we have major neighborhoods that are simply gone where you never would expect it... and the loss of history is heartbreaking..

Don't get me wrong.. I know there are areas in NO that are still recovering also... I just wish that the media would remember that the storm hit to the east and there are other places that still need attention.

(stepping down from my soapbox...) hopefully we will have a calmer year this year... and everyone can have a chance to just breathe and enjoy the summer.. Stay safe Shaun!

You're right; for whatever reason, Mississippi tends to get overlooked in the media. They are rebuilding a civilization, which will take years. But I'm confident that area will come back better than ever. And I wish all the best to you and yours.
