I didn't get home from shooting til after nine or so. Am tired, but had to work up a current photo for dailies. I thought I would share. It is not a
series...........just one photo. Though I have many more. This bird and I became well acquainted today.

Raian, this was at Magnolia Gardens. These "lakes" with the brackish water photograph best dark, IMO. At first I couldn't do them at all. Actually, I mean that I work them up and let the water go dark, as we know it is dark from the trees. Something to do with acid, or something.

f5.6, 400 ISO, 1/500, and I used the 400 mm lens here. I don't know if I had the extender on it or not. I was taking it on and off.

Also, I used the 70-200 f2.8 lens a lot. My usage of the lenses was quite versatile. I will work up more and post them. I was in a beautiful area and I wanted to show more than I could with the 400 at times.

Thanks for stopping, comments are welcome!

Have a good night, if you are on the other side
of the world, try not to fall off!

I can't figure out how he is going to stand back up without falling in!!! Did he catch that fish??? Great shot, Ginger...and an unusual pose! Lovely lighting in that spot. Sounds like you had a fun day and experimented with a lot of different lenses, etc. That's what I have been making myself do. I tend to get in the habit of using one lens and the others just sit there. So last week I shot all wide-angle. This weekend....well, we'll just have to wait and see! :D

Nice shot ginger. Yes, the water there is BLACK.. I believe that's why they call it a "black water swamp" :D

It was a nice day to shoot. It wasn't too terribly hot.. and we had a good breeze all day. I know that oppressive Charleston humidity isn't too far off... and I'm dreading it... I hide in the air-conditioning or in the pool on those days.

Just wanted to know.. where you in the Garden area or the swamp area. The swamp has all that green slimy gunk on the water. My shots come out incredibly GREEN there :P This looks like one of those isolated lakes back by the river?

Thank you, Saurora, Raian, Harry, Ben, Thusie, Gus and Ckakamunga!

I planned to answer each of you individually, but this kind of took off on me!

Thanks Ginger for the kind thought. That is a magic shot!
We aren't getting much sleep these nights, there is something on in Germany called World Cup Soccer and Australia managed to get a team in, maybe for the first time ever. Suddenly everyone is a soccer fan, even those of us who did not know or care if it was played here until this week. I cannot believe that I am losing sleep watching television football from the other side.
