Saw this bugger on my trunk in Northern Wisconsin. Anyone got a clue?

In my nasty, creepy, crawly thing book, he looks like a Black Pine Sawyer or one of his closest hillbilly relatives, the Spotted Sawyer, The Northeastern Sawyer, or the Eastern Sawyer. I'm not too sure about the red boa yours is wearing, however. How did he sound when you stepped on him?:): :): :):

It IS a type of Sawyer.
    A varitey I don't have a guide for.

BUT this much I have read about Sawyers.....
They wreak havok on Conifer Trees as well as recently felled and fire damaged trees.
Their larva bore holes in Pines....Spruce and the like and just munch munch munch!
Not a nice bug for my favorite Evergreens.:cry
