After the extensive shootout (and especially post-shootout) training waking up at 4:30 to get some sunrise shots was walk in the park... quite literally :-)

These are beautiful, Nik. And I didn't even have to get up early to see them.

Thanks! It's nice to sleep in sometimes:-)
Thank you! The #1 is the earliest one, before the sunrise. I guess that's why it's so important to get there early. I'm very glad Marc (Muench) showed us a few tips in Bryce about the pre-sunrise shooting:-)
Cheers!

You're lucky, it's practically in your back yard. I had to drive 5-6 hours to get there... :cry

As to the "star" shot - it appears to be skewed, but it's not.. Check the V-lines on tufa towers. It's just the shore having a very irregular shape and thus appearing off the H-line...
Thank you for stopping by! Appreciate it!

You really should, esp. now that Tioga is open, it's just a quick drive:-)
South Tufa is perfect for both sunrise/sunset, and Tioga itself is very pretty, with is snowpacks in the middle of June :-)
I guess the 1994 decision finally makes it IRL:-) Shoot it while you can:-) When they regain those 19 feet most of the tufas will be out of reach...
