I think I have a new girlfriend...

A couple of days ago a little dog was fooling around my house. I did feel sorry for her because she was nothing to see, a few hairs on her body and homeless. I had still a reasonable large bag of dog food what was a left-over of my own dog that recently died so I put some for this poor little girl.

Well, short there after she and me got affiliated and she decided to stay. Monday I’m going out to work again and I decided that if she still here by Wednesday, I’m going to “fix her up”. I think she’s going nowhere anymore.

For now two “before” captures to show you the state she’s in right now. She got a bit more body that a few days ago because of the feeding.

Two captures. Isn’t she cute?

You're right. She is one of thousends that running around is this or worse condition. That's how it be and I can not help all. If I help her I say proudly say "One less".

If I say “help her” I mean to go to the vet and get her the injections she need, make sure she can not produce any offspring, make sure I get the proper medication to cure her skin, check if the dog don’t have any illness that can’t be cured, buy balanced food etc. There is no way until Wednesday that I can go to the vet to prepare all this.

Understand that the dog live in the yard and can go whenever she pleased. Tomorrow however I will buy my girl a chain so she can’t go anymore. Today I will “clean” her with proper shampoo against fleas and ticks. In the mean time I will take care of her by bathing her, feeding her and give her some attention.

you WILL need to take her to the Vet, It looks like she has Mange and that needs to be treated asap. Her hair will grow back with proper nutrients as well as with medication for the Mange.
Thank you SO very much for adopting her and giving her the proper love she so deserves.

She is a VERY lucky girl to have found you, and she will repay you with years of love and devotion. That kind of skin problem can also be the result of a thyroid deficiency which is easily managed with very inexpensive daily pills, but the vet will tell you. Congratulations on the new member of the family. It will be great to see her progress.

    Thanks Cynthia & William.

I think a product called "Paramite" which is a sponge-on for dogs will cure her skin problem, but before I go play doctor myself I ask the vet.

Bless you Dick, for doing this. Don't forget to keep us posted on the recovery of this little champ.

Maybe you could sell pictures of her way back to health as a means to cover your expenses. I know I'd love to pitch in.

    Thanks Malte.

My father always said (may he rest in peace): "Well Dick, If you think you can affort to smoke and fool around, don't ask me for money!"

I think he is right so let me just pay the vet. The vet will cut me surely some slack because I'm a regular with my almost 50 birds mwink.gif

    Thanks.

Bless you, Dick for taking in this poor little gal!!! clap.gif She needs you that is for sure. She has a sweet face and I bet she turns out to be a wonderful companion and you will wonder why she was ever neglected to such a sorry state. I have 2 rescue dogs and I think that about them every day, as they give so much of their little hearts to you! Please post a picture from time to time and keep us posted as to her recovery. Have you decided on a name for her?

THat's great to take in a dog like that. Too many folks buy new dogs when there are so many out there needing adoption. Good luck to both of you.

    Update!
Just came back from the vet and the vet told me that Smuggy is around 6 months old and is overal healthy.

Smuggy did get however the nessesary injections against a bunch of awfull sounding sicknesses and also treatment for her skin.

Right now she's a bit down from the injections.

I'm glad everything worked out just fine.

I will not update this thread anymore because this forum is actually for other purposes. If you're interested, you may visit the link found in my signature. Thanks again to anyone who is "feeling with me" for my little girl.
