This (Sunday) evening I went with Grimace to his secret spot for egrets.
We counted 32 at one time on this little pond.
I ended up over exposing the egrets, even though I set the camera where
I normally do to shoot them. If only I'd have checked the histogram.
Maybe next time.

That first shot rocks Dave (in fact so do they all) I really like that one. clap.gif

I've blown out so many egrets I've lost count. You're right about checking the histogram and for blinkies. I will usually try to do a couple of test shots to check my settings before Is start to fire away. You also have to pay attention to any change in your lighting while you are shooting.

What a bonanza of egrets - I like #4 and the rogue feather.:):

    Thanks folks.

I think the whites got a little hot because of the "L" lens.
I set the parameters at 1 ( contrast, sharpness, and saturation at +1 ) for
all of my other lenses. But the "L" is so sharp and has so much contrast, that I'm
thinking I need to change to parameter 0 for that lens ( all 0's )

Something to try the next time out.

Same setting, different lens. (sigma 80-400os)
    White, but not to white.

Very nice images Dave. I like the first the most.

Try to Google on "Sunny 16" as somebody suggested to me. I did try some shots with the sunny 16 rule (no snowy egrets) and it seems very usable for tricky light situations.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Dick.

    Sunny 16 Rule.
