My encounter with a loon, first time posting here

Well, this is my first post here and decided to post one of my pics I have gotten so far this summer. Friends and I went out for a boat ride and came across a loon and her nest. She tried to lure us away of coarse, so we just putted along. She didn't come to close, so I tried with my Sigma 70-300, but have an unsteady hand in a fishing boat! So switched to canon 85mm 1.8 and got some decent ones, although I did have to zoom and crop when I got home.
Any comments/ tips are welcome please as I am still new to dig, used mainly film and eager to learn! Thanks for looking!
Lisa
