Bulk Gallery Settings : improving usability for numerous galleries

I'm organizing my photos per year (years being categories) and inside each year, I have a bunch of galleries for each "event", all sorted by date.
So far that's about 1000 galleries for 11 years.
While I appreciate the possibility to bulk apply a setting to all my galleries at once (heavy page though), I also would like more possibilities.
For example is it possible to select only the galleries belonging to a specific category ? In other words, I'd like to be able to apply a setting to only the galleries in the year 2006 without having to click all of them one by one.
