Kind of sad really.
I think it would have made a great shot if you had him looking off in awe at the plane that was so well positioned in the background. Any way you can do some cloning from another shot?

Agreed,
As I look at it more and more I like it. But I also think that the kid looks more thoughtful than bored. At least, that's what my imagination takes from the picture.
I also forgot to mention that I like the crop.
