Hi,

I have been putting a bit of work into marketing my event photos via Google.

Thanks for all the tips in this forum!

I have ended up with a slightly odd result.

The Event I covered is called the Bristol Rat Race Urban Adventure.

And my gallery is here http://snappyphotos.co.uk/gallery/1565235/

I have heavily keyworded and captioned stuff, but for some reason google is finding the photos, via the keyword, and via the URL http://sdgfsdg34.photos.military.com/.

Its the Top Hit in google if you search for bristol rat race photos, which is great, but the URL, and Page title is a little offputting.

What is this URL? the host seems to point to smugmug.

How can I encourage Google to find my Gallery and Page title instead?

Hope some1 can shed some light on this for me.

I have seen my stuff indexed on Google with this same URL, or something very close to it. Hope someone knows the answer.

We don't have much control over how google indexes, but we're looking into it.

What I find interesting is when I clik on the "home" link it takes me directly to my home page all signed in ...............

Here, this worked--Enter the search terms in the normal Google search box: madrid photo site: sdgfsdg34.photos.military.com/

I am happy for my images to be at the top of the list any old way, I understand that not even Andy can control Google!

Wonder why someone created a CNAME entry like this:

*.photos.military.com CNAME *.smugmug.com

{your smugmug acct name}.photos.military.com will take you to your own smugmug site


Anything you put in that doesn't exist simply brings you to smugmugs home page (free advertising)

Head over here for an explanation of the deal smugmug made with military.com. All military.com members can get a free limited smugmug account to share their photos in the newly created military photo community.
