Thanks for the comments about the exposure - I increased the Dynamic Range (and at the same time achieved that smooth water effect) by combining multiple shots at different exposures. I will try cropping the picture as you suggested; originally I thought the rocks in the foreground would add an interesting element to the shot, but perhaps it will look better with out them.
I actually like the current framing, maybe a little too much sky. The foreground seems to bring balance to it all. My eyes start at the city, follow the bridge to the left, then down the pillar of the bridge to the rocky front, which leads you into the rest of the print. Very nice.
The reflection is perfect - not too much to distract.

rocks in foreground are great, i think best when the camera is held lower to the ground with a wide-angle it makes a nice effect.
the colors are great, how do you do all that blending?
