Painted Beauty
Well, my goal for the summer was to SEE a painted bunting (which I never had) and if I could photograph one, that would be icing on the cake. Lo' and behold, yesterday while at a NWR I saw one fly off the road, then saw another about an hour later. He flew onto a nearby branch which was bouncing in the wind. So it isn't the best - but I'm oh so happy and I saw five more during the day!!
100-400L IS at 400mm, ISO 200 (should've been 400 - he was in the shade), f/5.6, 1/160 - no flash, was afraid I scare him off.

Congrats! What an incredible looking bird. I had to look it up to make sure you weren't pulling my leg :.
I'm always thrilled when I get a shot of a new (for me) bird.
I would be extra thrilled with this one. I've never seen one of these.
Hate to be ignorant, but where/what is NWR? Pretty sure I get the W and the R, but don't know the N.
National Wildlife Reserve - this one was Hagerman up on the Ok/TX border.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Nice capture of a very unusual bird. (to me anyway)
You'd be correct Ric - somehow seems more professional than my nickname, I keep going back and forth on it.
