I’m not sure what this bird is but I saw him on the California coast taking a bath in a tide pool

I don't know why I feel the need to hijack my husband's account to identify birds, but life must be slow. This is a Black Oystercatcher. They hug the rocky Western coastline of North America and are threatened by the increasing seal and sea lion population.

Interesting bird - really like the one w/its head under water.

Good captures. I would try not to have the subject so centered in the shots.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

No need to hijack accounts. Sign up for your own, we don't bite. You're more than welcome here.

That last shot is really nice wofies. I agree with harry about the centering.

    Michele,

Thanks for the help on identifying this bird. I have all sorts of birds that I don’t have a clue as to what they are, but this one was so neat to watch.

    Harry,

Thanks and I agree on the crop, I guess I didn’t pay attention when I cropped them. I’ll redo them some time when I get the chance.
