I think this first shot has to be my favorite so far from my trip up North. It was taken at Whitefish Point in the afternoon. The second shot was taken at the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. The light was poor on the falls since it was getting later in the afternoon and the falls are best lit in the morning. The second shot was also handheld at 300mm. As always thanks for looking and feel free to critique.

Thank You Nancy! I really think that is one of my best shots lately. With the sailboat moving I only had a couple minutes to line up the shot and wait for it to be positioned just where I wanted it.

Those are some great pictures! The first one definatly looks like its right out of national geographic. :)

I notice your location says Chicago. I'll be in Chicago in about 2 or 3 weeks for my first time ever. Going to be working in Willmette (sp?).

    Hi Nick
    Love the first.

Have you tried the shadow highlight tool on the third - I wonder about using it first to bring a bit more out of the orangey colors, then you could still make the trees silhouetted by using curves to set the black point.

Very nice captures, Nick. You definately like to travel! This is a great series of images. The Hessel Michigan Sunset is exceptionally tranquil.

Thanks for looking. Wow, moving from Alaska to Chicago, that is about as different as you can get. Good luck on the move.

Frank, when did you come over here. Nice to see you posting. I have traveled more this year than in the last two, and it's only June. The sunset was very nice every night I was there. I wish I could say the same thing for the sunrises, we got rained out each morning.
