While up North with Pathfinder and Nightengale we went to the Lower Tahquemenon Falls. On the path there was this little guy that was too busy eating fallen seeds than to care about us.

The older squirrels I saw ran away if I got too close but this adolescent had food on his mind.

I have seen posted Cedar Waxwings before and I know they are in my area but I had to go all the way to Michigan to see them for myself. There were about 6 of them raiding a tree of its berries and we just happend to be standing right next to the tree. It was a case of being at the right place at the right time.

Well I too like the squirrels, we don't have them around here. Tried to take some squirrel pictures when I was in Ohio for my Daughter's wedding, no luck. Around here when someone says, "tree rat", they aren't speaking about squirrels. They are speaking about the Norway rat, also known as brown rats. Squirrels are cute and fun to watch, brown rats are anything but. Rats, big rats, big ugly rats big ugly f . . . oh I'm sure you have heard the joke.

Like jwear, I can't speak to the Cedar Waxwing as I too live in Southern California and it is not in my pocket guide for San Diego County birds. I do have Orioles, beautiful bright yellow and jet black birds, and I have been trying for about four-years to get a picture of one, so far Nada.

Thanks for the comments everyone, they are appreciated. Just wait till Pathfinder gets back. He's got a better shot of the Cedar waxwing than I, he even took it using my 70-200. They got so close at times that I had too much reach with the 300.

And to all you squirrel haters, you know you secretly went Aaawwwww when you saw the shots of that little red squirrel.

Thanks Skippy. So you do venture into other forums :D. I think it's interestng that animals we take for granted others find interesting because they don't have them. I'm sure it's the same that we find the animals so interesting from Australia but for you they are common. Thanks for looking.

Nice detail on the baby TR, and I like the CW, however, if you could be a little tighter, and see more eyes on the CW it may be better.
