Two bridges

The first two shots are from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada. It is of the bridge that runs from the US to Canada and also has two other bridges that turn on their center axis for trains to cross the river. I can't make up my mind as to which one I like better, the portrait or landscape shot. The third is of the Mackinac Bridge in the morning fog. I found shooting the bridge in the fog was pretty hard and had to use three layers to bring out some contrast. Critique is always welcome.

The composition appeals to me in the vertical shot. All nicely done with a very fine job done on the Mackinac Bridge in the morning fog.

I can completly understand why you can't make up your mind between the first two photos. I really don't think they compare well to each other as their focus is completely different (at least to my eye). The wide one seems to be talking about the relationship between the brides and the water. The second, more about the relationship between the various bridges.

The composition on both is very good.

If someone were twisting my arm, I would have to say the second is "the better" of the two.

Of the three, I think the last photo is 5-star! The exposure is much better than the first two, the bird adds a lot of foreground interest, the fog onthe bridge adds an element of mystery. Too bad there wasn't just a bit more fog on the far end of the bridge.

Maybe you could add some in PS with the clone tool & layers & selections with masks etc. If you need any advice with that just email me & I'll be glad to help!

2nd shot definately the better of them. I'd also crop out more of the water below. Water is implied even if there is less of it. The bridges are the star of the show.

I'm counting three bridges. Or is it just me?

Hey Nick, like how's it going, eh?

I really, really prefer the second shot of the bridges to the first. I wonder about cropping just a smidge more off of the right and bottom. Really focus the eye on the angles of the iron works.

The fog shot is also very sweet.

    cheers

Thanks Fred. I thought of your great shots when taking these. I don't know how you get your shots, this stuff is really hard to shoot. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Dixie. I'm quite happy with what I ended up with on the Mackinac Bridge shot.

Thanks Scott, I was looking for something to make the foreground more interesting and there were gulls around so I figured why not. I like the end product but wish I had moved a little more to the right to get the gull a bit further to the left. As for the fog, it was either like this or completely covered the bridge. This shot showed the best combination of bridge and fog out of the shots I took.

Actually there are four David, the Mackinac, and three in Sault Ste. Marie. I was mainly refering to the main bridge in Sault Ste. Marie and the Mackinac. Thanks for looking.
