Very cute kid!:D

Otherwise, great color and wonderful expressions! Have you tried doing some B&W with these? Might translate nicely!

Thanks Andi.... you are right about cutting off the toe... I was ready to scream when I saw about 5 shots taken like this... and all but one had her toe cut off... and this one should be the one with her toes.. not sure what happened... I'll check it again... it's a close call but I did get it in there...
I'm notoriously bad about cutting off body parts like that... but I'm working on it...
I haven't had much of a chance to play with converting these... and not much chance yet to really practice converting any pictures... but I plan to play with these and see what happens...
Thanks again for the comments... I welcome all suggestions... anything that will help me get better...

did you use a fill flash with a bounce or diffuser?

Great Photos!
It looks like she had a good time also. I think that helps alot when the model and the photographer are relaxed with each other.
What camera did you use?
The colors are Awsome!

Thanks....
I didn't use a flash at all.... these are all natural light... taken outside under the oak trees between 5 and 6 pm... in South Alabama if that makes a difference.... It was a really sunny day, but the yard had great shade.

Thanks Charles... I think I was the lucky one here... she is a natural with the camera. I had never met Sarah before this shoot... she is the niece of a good friend of mine. I'm taking a couple of classes and needed a child for some pictures... asked my friend if I could "borrow" her niece and she set it up.. Sarah made it really easy for me because I almost ddn't have to tell her anything at all.
As for the camera.. I have a Nikon D70s and used both my 18-70mm and my 70-300mm for the shots...

Sorry Denise - I just saw your reply!
I'm sorry to hear that!:giggle There's not much out there except for desert, and more desert.:D I do enjoy going to Red Rock Canyon though, which is just north of EAFB.
- Kevin
Hey!! if I remember correctly... there's not much around Bakersfield either.. except for desert!
Well when you are only 12-13 years old... you don't need much... we actually had a great time there cuz the base had a lot of stuff for kids to do... roller skating rink (aaaah... the Friday nights I spent there)... the pool.. the theater.. youth centers.. It was a great assignment for that time in my life...
I don't remember Red Rock Canyon... sounds like a great place for photography...
Is Cal Worthington still advertising used cars out that way.. with his dog Spot...

HAHA! You got that right! I actually moved here 3 years ago from Northern California. I really miss the mountains, rivers, rain, and all the GREEN.:cry
That's true! It's funny how big our "playgrounds" get from kids to adults. From the sandbox, to the street, to the city, to the world!
It's pretty cool - Hwy. 14 north from Hwy. 58. I think it's 10-15 miles from Hwy. 58. It's hard to find unique places in this area so I was pretty excited when I stumbled onto this place.

WOW. I forgot about that guy! I haven't heard a commercial since I moved to Bakersfield. He was really big in the Sacramento area.
- Kevin
Nice pictures of the canyon... Definitely reminds me of Edwards and the area... I love the southwest.. there is such beauty in the sand...
I really liked your pix of the joshua trees... had forgotten about those... a unique plant in the Mojave Desert..

Thanks for the comments! It's a great area to shoot but I always seem to end up there in the middle of the day and everything is blown out with the sun. I'm not much of an early riser! Someday I'll have to go camping there and do some early morning & late afternoon stuff.
Sorry to bring back memories of the DESERT!

really great photos-
and what a cutie!-
she seems like such a natural in front of the camera-
one thing I want to mention- have you checked out davidto's pop tutorial here?-
I'm not saying your pics need a 'pop'; it would just be a different version, and if you don't 'pop' any of your pics, you'll want to eventually-
again, a really great job-
george
Thanks iceman... I wish everything I shot turned out this well

George.. thanks for the suggestion.... I haven't tried it with any of these pictures yet.. but I did play around with the tutorial last night with a few other pictures and I definitely see how it can help... and every tutorial that teaches me a bit more about PS is a great thing!
thanks for the compliments too

Wonderful set. Bubbly little girl, and you captured that perfectly.
Absolutely gorgeous light! Many times hats are a pain because of the shadows they cast on the face. There was something very large behind you and to your right that was reflecting almost perfect light for this series. I can't tell what it was, maybe a building or maybe some clouds, but it was relatively large and sweeping.
You can see it in the reflections in the eyes.
Great job, (except for that little ooboo with cropping her feet.)
