This is a dragonfly that originated in South Africa and it is migrating north and east into Europe and Asia. We have a permanent group here in Naples, Italy at a lake in the middle of a dormant volcano called Lago d'Averno.

I've been shooting them in a mix of aperture priority and shutter priority (the later when the wind is moving them too much and I want to keep the shutter speed at 1/250). -1 exposure bias with an MT-24 flash set to -1 1/3 to -1 2/3 under for fill. Minimal post processing and no cropping (I don't allow myself to crop images because it can turn into a habit that makes me too lazy to work on framing).

C&C welcome! :):

Very beautiful. It's a pity for the missing parts in the 2nd and the 3th.

    Thanks for sharing.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks! The missing parts are deliberate -I shoot them so often that I look for compositions that aren't ordinary.

A psychedelic Dragonfly. Like the others I like the first one, but I also like number three too. Two and four are interesting for the detail they show, but I think most people will find 1 & 3 more appealing.
