If you take a picture of landscape with people in it can you sell that picture of do you have to have a release from each person that there face is showing in that picture?

Now if that picture was taken at a sports even does the same rule or law apply?ne_nau.gif

I just got back from Monterey, and need to rush out, but I thought I would comment. I stopped in a local photo shop in Pacific Grove and noticed they had a bunch of amateur snap shots of celebrities for sale at $1.00 each. When I asked the lady, she said as long as it was taken on public property, not used for advertisements, you don't need a release. IE: Papararzi. (sp).

I will read the sites Andy provided later for more info.

I'm no lawyer, but fair use for non-commercial purposes should not require releases. If you think you're going to sell an image with people in 'em, better look into the nitty-gritty. I don't sell my images, so I don't worry about taking shots of people in public settings for non-commercial purposes.

    YMMV.

    lets say for an example...
Go to the 49er game and take pics of the players or cheerleaders... that would be on private property right? So a release from each would need to be done? I have to read more on the site andy posted.:puke1
