First wedding shoot - advice needed
Hiya
I've just learnt a friend of mine is getting married - this Saturday!!! He's asked me to be a witness & also take some photos. Its a small registry office do, nothing fancy, there's no white dress to deal with & he'll probably be wearing just shirt & trousers rather than a suit as its so hot here at the moment. He is Asian so his skin is quite dark & she is Eastern European with very dark hair & quite pale skin.
What sort of settings should I be using to get an even balance between the 2 of them? Should I be using a flash? Will the inbuilt one on the E500 be enough or should I use my small external flash?
Thanks very much in advance.

Thanks for the link.
It may well have been asked before, but I only joined in December so wouldn't necessarily have seen it.

Well just search it on the web, not just dgrin. There are many wedding photographer forums. Good luck with your friends wedding.

Diffuse the flash, preferably bounce & diffuse the flash.

P.S. Oh yeah and don't do the "ankle chop". Either do a head shot, a bust shot, or a full length shot; but, the mid calf "I couldn't decide" shot stinks of amature. I know these things because I've done them and had kind mentors to correct me.

This may be good advise, but I bet it didn't help vangogh.....
Attachment not found.
....Being as how it was after the fact.....check the date....
But speaking of....how did the wedding turn out vangogh?
It wasn't too bad, but there were a few things I had issues with. Because it ws the first time, I thought I'd stick the ISO on auto & then hopefully the camera would get it right, but inside the registry office it didn't work out as planned & I got a bit of shake & some of the pics were slightly out of focus. I wasn't sure whether to use the 15-45 or 45-150 so went with the zoom throughout, which was ok outside, but I think it would have been better to use the smaller lens indoors.
This was the better of the 2 signing pics, I've had to sharpen it quite a bit, the other just wasn't salvagable.
I thought the ring one was cool!
Here's the "We're celebrities & wear cool shades" shot! lol
The gooey one!!
The bride wasn't particularly well and she didn't want too many photos but both the groom & I said go on. more pics!
Here's the full length one. the groom said he wanted the people in the background
The hands together shot - I missed the putting on of the ring in the office as I was on the wrong side - you live & learn :
The other witness & her friend
And who's that mysterious lady in pink? Yours truly!!!

yes, the pictures show up now. You have some very nice ones there. I like the ring shot and the picture of the bride w/ her hand by her chin. It's too bad about all the sun glasses, I think they detract from the people in the picture
cheers,
C.
