Need help/advice in organizing my page (catagories, subcatagories)

So I use my smugmug account for hosting photos of my son as well as landscape/travel shots. My parents were complaining the other day that they want to see his photos organized by month rather than having a single gallery with his name (Asher) and 400+ photos to scroll through.
Fair enough I thought and spent the past few hours trying to figure out how to do this without having to re-upload all the photos. I created a new Category "Asher" and then made subcatagories - "July 2006", "June 2006", etc. When I try to customize the original Asher gallery (currently under the catagory Children), I can only add a single subcatagory to the entire gallery. Also, there is no way to move photos to a specific subcatagory.
Do I need to create new galleries with the month as title and then put these under the catagory "Asher" and subcatagory of the date? Is the subcatagory even needed in that case? Will this still look "clean" on my homepage or will it be crowded with all of these new galleries if I'm under gallery view?
Thanks in advance,
E

May 2006 photos, using the timeline feature

Does this help?

Timeline is helpful but is there a way to restrict it to a particular gallery (especially a protected one)?
Also, I don't think my parents would be savvy enough for the timeline so I started to construct new galleries labeled "Month, Year" under the self-made catagory "Asher". Seems to work ok. I started using the subcatagories in addition but this made it look cumbersome. Still trying to figure out the role of the subcatagories....
Thanks for the quick reply.

Well, if you don't want to use the /date feature, then you can make category called 2006 and subcategories for each month.
Or, you can simply make your own links for your parents. Using the links as above, just make a list of links in your bio, or in a new gallery (all the links would go in the new gallery's description area). Then, they can just click the link
FAR LESS work for you
It would look like this:
<html>
To see the May 2006 photos, <a href="http://eoren1.smugmug.com/date/2006-05-1/2006-05-30">Click Here</a>
To see the June 2006 photos, <a href="http://eoren1.smugmug.com/date/2006-06-1/2006-06-30">Click Here</a>
</html>
this would work, eh??
