Fireworks at Foster City, CA

Well, traffic was horrid, we got lost (so what else is new), finally found a place to park the car, started toward the water when the fireworks started.

I quickly got the camera on the tripod and was pressing the shutter down by hand, trying to get my lighting and timing down right. Grabbed the flashlight and my remote (Thanks Nik!!!) and then I was all set. All the photos I took pressing the shutter by hand (even on the tripod) were blurred. So lesson learned.

I have to admit, having traffic and traffic lights as the foreground for fireworks was interesting! Unfortunately, I'm used to the nice slow pace of the fireworks at Half Moon Bay, but they didn't have them this year, partially due to the fact that Devil's Slide on Highway One is closed due to the road trying to fall into the ocean.

With Foster City's faster pace I was really bemoaning the fact that while my camera was "processing" I was missing fireworks. They also tended to shoot them in the same spot which made some of the shots blown out. But all in all it was fun, and I think I have a few decent firework photos this year.

    Hi Dee,

Glad you went to Foster City, you've got some great shots! Seems like the fog cleared up pretty nicely too :D As you know, we don't have 4th of the July, and the only legal fireworks are december 31st/January 1st, so it will be a while before i get to see some real fireworks.

I actually like this one quite a bit too:79627163-M.jpg

I think it's all the street and car lights that do it for me.
