Critters from the farm

These are a mix of manual mode (F11, 1/250, ISO 100 and 200, flash set to -1/3) or shutter priority (1/250, ISO 100 or 200, -2/3 exposure bias, flash set to -1 1/3). I finally had a chance to shoot something that wasn't a dragon or damsel :):

Minimal post processing (except for one of the butterfly shots -there were some irritating bits in the background that I removed) and no cropping.

Nice lot Dalantech....... you know when I see those little bees all covered in pollen I wonder how they can still see, because they often have their eyes coated in the stuff too.

They are really interesting to watch, I love the colours in your butterfly too.......thanks for sharing......... Skippy (Australia)

    Thanks Awais! :):

The trick to shooting them in the wild is to wait until they are eating -it's the only time they let me get close. I also just find an area where they are feeding and wait for them to come to me -if I stay still they'll often land right in front of me...

That's the trick -to watch them for a while to see how they are moving. Then I get the framing that I want and let the bee "pose" when it finally moves where I want it to be...

    Thanks for the props! :):

Difficult to shoot since they were almost back lit, but I was using an MT-24 flash and it pulled up the shadows very well.
